Kevin-Kennedy Family Daycare

Hello! I am Chinwe Aka, the founder of Kevin-Kennedy Family Daycare. As a mother of four children, I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 11 years of experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged kids.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2008 from Cal State LA with additional certifications from my specialization in infant care. I also earned an Associate’s Degree in Human Development. I love learning and gaining as much education and experience as I can to provide the highest quality care.

After I got my Bachelor’s degree, I worked as a substitute teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). In 2014, I became a full-time teacher at Dolores Street Early Education Center and taught my own class of preschoolers for five years. Some of my favorite parts of being a preschool teacher included circle time, arts & crafts activities, and hands-on learning projects. I enjoyed being able to prepare my students for success in their later years.

I decided to open my own in-home child care program because I love children and truly care for them. I want to make a difference in their lives and in my community. As a mother, my goal has always been to encourage, nurture and protect children of all ages. I am proud to have raised kids who are smart, kind and ambitious. My 19-year-old daughter is currently studying Accounting at UCLA while my 17-year-old daughter, a senior in high school, is an aspiring entrepreneur. My 16-year-old son wants to be a doctor and my 14-year-old boy wants to be a lawyer. I guided my kids throughout their childhood with attention, love and support so that they were encouraged to dream big and have positive self-esteem.
