We have been in operation since January 2018 and In 2019, The Little Plum daycare was selected by State of California for the dual language learners program. We have a dual language program for our kids to do daily Spanish lessons with Ms. Laura who teaches from her heart since Spanish is her first language. She makes lessons fun for all ages since we have preschoolers and zoom kids learning with us. Our kids learn in a fun and exciting way either through art or cooking food from around the world. She also makes lessons for the children through song and various lessons are created to build vocabulary and language skills. She enjoys teaching Spanish to kids as well as traditional lessons for preschooler to be prepared for Kindergarten.
As the Lead teacher and Director, I use the Montessori method to teach traditional lessons as well as a Montessori styled lessons. I am convinced that what happens during our children’s formative years is far more important than we realize. It not only shapes who children are today but also they will become. My goal is to raise the next generation of leaders. Teaching kindness and good manners, while encouraging children to have diverse experiences helps to develop their whole being. I was able to convert my childhood home into a daycare for children to come learn in creative ways. The Montessori classroom is centered around children’s interests and to meet a child's individual needs. We also incorporate the cosmic curriculum where children “travel” to a new country each week to learn about different cultures and make food children across the globe enjoy. We all sit together eat dishes from around the world and celebrate those differeces. Our program is seamlessly woven for Dual Language learners to speak in English & Spanish. We use our Dual Language Program to enrich our children’s life as well as the cultural cooking classes to learn about geography. These experiences allow children to grow their minds and expand their horizons. Keeping in line with the Montessori Philosophy when doing lessons, set in a designed sequence to create order in the mind and help the children develop mastery in each lesson that has been carefully crafted for them in our prepared environment. I feel I am doing my job of igniting a light within each child to create a LOVE of learning.

My journey as an educator has shifted gears when I decided to run my own daycare business, to allow myself the freedom to set my own goals higher than I could have ever imagined. I feel that I’m living my life’s purpose! Even though the path I chose is unpaved, and filled with exciting challenges I feel humbled on how far we as a community have come. Over the years, I have collected many exciting experiences, which have prepared me for the work I am doing today and will continue to do so for years to come.
I studied psychology before switching over to teaching children in public schools, then finally finding my calling with the Montessori method. The Montessori method inspired me to leave my home in California and move to Miami to get my Masters in Education. I created a cosmic curriculum at Casa Dei Bambini which stands for Children's House.
Today in my childhood home, I created a homely environment for children to learn from each other. We grow, learn and laugh together! The lessons given to younger children by older children who have been attending the program- lends itself to raise more awareness in our children to learn from each other in order to gain mastery from doing lessons at their own individual pace and embrace leadership by setting good examples for others to follow.
Little Plum has become a second home for my son (now 16 months). We started there in February 2019 after some concerns with his previous daycare. From the moment we visited I knew we had found a gem. There is so much outdoor space and lots of things to explore and learn with insi...Read more
Wonderful. I love that Amrin’s parents and husband are around here and there and that it’s at a family home. I love the diversity of care staff (ages and races) and the children my daughter interacts with on a daily basis. I feel comfortable that my baby has a lot of love whe...Read more
The 10,000 square lot is nestled on a quiet street away from the hustle and bustle of traffic. Our organic home has a beautiful lush garden where children can observe butterflies as they enjoy their daily organic meals. We talk about nature and how to preserve it. We explore in the garden and teach about the environment. Our home is safe, secure, and is the ideal space for children to run around and play.
