Welcome to The Ivy League Academy! The last 8 years of working in early childhood education while parenting a young child have brought me an intimate understanding of patience, humility, and wonder of the world around us. It was our experiences in various preschool settings that led me on a journey to execute my vision - a vision shared by many preschool teachers - of creating a space that feels like home, where children can explore and learn using an inquiry-based method, where play leads to discovery. Our curriculum takes inspiration from Nature, from the Reggio Emilia philosophy of learning.
We are a home-based preschool in a quiet Wildrose neighborhood, serving children ages 3 to 6. Our indoor space is set up as an invitation to play in various corners of the child's world - creating, building, observing, pretending, writing, reading, singing, and laughing are all a big part of our day. Our outdoor classroom gives us opportunity to move, climb, run, hunt for snails, watch the clouds, get messy and keep our bodies in tune with the natural world.
The children and their families are truly what make our program unique. Each new bright idea, each step we take, is inspired by you! As the early years of learning are so important for the years of learning to come, we hope that you make your home with us at The Ivy League Academy.See all program details
After graduating from California State University Fullerton in 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in Education, I explored different career paths until 2016, when I took the opportunity to step back and assess the common threads connecting each of my professional experiences, and what I loved about each of those jobs. It was during this time I discovered that I was drawn to development and guidance, especially as it related to working with families and children.
I became fascinated with the world of Early Childhood Development when I was offered a teaching position at a Montessori preschool. It was this up close observation of babies learning to walk, toddlers learning to talk, and preschoolers learning to navigate social relationships that propelled me to dive headfirst into my own experience as a parent and caregiver. While working at the preschool level and raising my own young daughter, I began to develop the vision for what is now The Ivy League Academy Preschool, but is also a vision I carry with me through any child care setting I encounter, to place a high value on play-based learning with a major emphasis on academic preparation; where children are given the chance to explore social and emotional connections, acquire language and literacy skills, and develop motor skills in a well-prepared environment that will set the stage for a lifetime of learning. My training, education, certifications, and special achievements are: Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and
Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Adolescents.
