SLEEPING

Co-sleeping: pros vs. cons!

My son has been having a lot of trouble with sleeping at night. He’s almost 12 weeks and it takes us hours to get him to go to sleep. He falls asleep fastest when my husband or I am with him. I know co-sleeping gets a pretty bad rep, but is it really that bad?

Co-sleeping is definitely something not to do. Your little one can suffocate if you roll over onto them, and co-sleeping increases your baby’s risk of SIDS! It’s a no no. 0 Likes

I think it depends on what you mean by co-sleeping. If it’s sleeping in the same bed as you, I’d say you probably shouldn’t. Can be pretty dangerous. But if it’s them sleeping in a bassinet or crib in the same room as you, that’s totally okay, and makes it easier for you to feel close to them throughout the night. Sleeping in the same room as your little one is totally okay (and maybe even good). 0 Likes

There have been study after study proving that co-sleeping is beneficial. We are one of the only cultures that doesn't encourage co-sleeping. I am pro co-sleeping not only does it help my kids feel safe, but I tend to sleep better hearing them breathe. I figure at some point my kids will feel comfortable enough to one day sleep on their own. 1 Like
