How do I know if I have postpartum depression?

I am feeling depressed a lot - is this "baby blues" or postpartum depression? Has anyone dealt with this? I'm really worried.

I often asked myself this question when I first had my Charlie. I remember reading that hormone changes could impact this but a good way to tell was that “baby blues “will fade after a few days or closer to a week, but PPD symptoms will last longer. Really it’s better to be safe and have it checked if you aren’t feeling improvement. Good luck to you, new mama! 0 Likes

I don't have a good answer for you on this one because it feels so different in each woman. My husband is actually a physician and he advises that if you have any concern to talk with someone. Also being really open with your partner so that you can get extra support when needed! 0 Likes

I felt the same way with my second child. I had a mild case of postpartum and found that getting involved with church, school, and mom groups helped. 1 Like

Definitely go see a therapist, and try to join a new moms support group 0 Likes
