How do I talk to my child about the protests?

Yesterday my 4 year old asked me if he was gonna to get hurt in a riot..I don’t even know how he learned about it! Please help :(

Kids hear everything..my husband and i have a rule to not talk about the violence when our kiddos are around. Just make sure to remind him he’s safe with you! 0 Likes

I’m freaking out about this too.. I want my babies to feel safe but Im not sure I want to begin explaining all this to them!! Relieved to know its not just me 0 Likes

They see everything on you tube,so make shore you watch everything their watching it’s ever we’re,and tell them that mommy and daddy are going to practice them no matter what,my grand daughter is even scared of they mash now to because she seen they news and people was wearing them when they was looting,and I told her that everybody not bad people some are and we are going to pray for them 0 Likes

I meant to say that kids are like sponges, they absorb everything. My friend who is a librarian suggests getting a few book to explain why people are protesting and the basics of being anti-racist and welcoming diversity. Kids will welcome you talking to them honestly, Ina n age appropriate way about serious topics. Fear feeds on ignorance. 1 Like
