I believe young children learn through exploration and play. I ask them questions, interact with them, and expose them to many different activities. I scaffold their learning through interactions with them, by changing their environment, and by what I put out for activities each day. How we choose to interact with the children helps mold them into the person they become. My curriculum is based on The Creative Curriculum for Family Child Care. The curriculum includes activities and an environment that promotes social and emotional development, language and literacy, creativity and the arts, cognitive development, and physical and motor development. I believe that providing the atmosphere and tools necessary to develop these skills is crucial for the success of these children for their life. I love providing open-ended activities where children can create and use their imagination. I strongly promote them to use their own ideas. I believe this builds confidence and promotes positive approaches to learning. I feel it is not only important for the children to connect with me, but it is important for me to have a relationship with the parents. I promote that they are their child's first and most important teacher. Together as a team we raise the child into an amazing person. It is important for the children to know that their caregiver is doing the same things as their parents. From first foods to potty training, to school readiness. Communication with families is key to provide the consistency with the children that is crucial to promote the safe, loving, nurturing environment I work so hard to create.
