I have 8 years of early childhood teaching experience at Bobbie Noonan and Creative World School. As an early childhood teacher, the first thing you learn is that the first 3 to 5 years of a child's life is so important. It's where they form their personalities which includes how they react to situations, their emotions, and everything that has to do with who they will become. This also includes their fine and gross motor skills like walking, running to holding a pencil. What really stuck with me from my 40-hour trainings was my teacher told us about an experiment they did on kittens to show how important the first years of life really is. It sounds so cruel, but in the experiment, one eye of the kitten's was sewn together the other eye left alone. This was done at birth. At the maturing age of the kitten, they took the stiches out. Well, the eye that was left alone was fine. The kitten could see out of it perfectly, but the eye that was sewn shut became blind. The blind eye was not allowed to develop in the developing age of the kitten, so it didn't develop. It went blind! Getting proper develop in the growing years of life is crucial to proper develop. That's what I always strived to do as a teacher. Give him a fish and he will have a fish for a day but teach him how to fish and he will have fish for a lifetime! Teaching children to be independent and do for themselves is so important, but so is nurturing and loving. As a teacher I would always try to give the proper balance. The main ages I have a lot of experience with is 10 months to age 6 years old giving them that proper balance. But I love children of all ages so that is why I included up to 14 years old. I look forward to being a positive light in your child's life!
