At the Backyard Playschool, we believe children have the right to be...CHILDREN! The right to explore, create, grow,discover, get messy, ask questions and PLAY! The right to learn at their pace, to be outside often, be safe, well-fed and loved. Our Playschool approach allows children to lead their own learning through meaningful, teacher, supported PLAY. It is the foundation they need for future academic and life success. Play is the important stuff!.We use the Redleaf Family Childcare Curriculum to guide us in supporting the early learning and development of children in our program. The Backyard Playschool is unique in that we are in a rural setting on 7 acres. We encourage and support outdoor, sensory, nature based play with an emphasis on social-emotional and language development. Much of our day is spent getting messy in costumes, using our imaginations to help us make sense of our big world. Science, art, early math, literacy, music, problem solving, social and self help skills are all a part of our daily routine where we learn through meaningful play.

The Backyard Playschool provides childcare for families living in the Wrenshall area. Children engage in play-based, educational activities to help them achieve important milestones.
