Profile

My name is Abbigail Lambert, and I want to be your next nanny. The combination of my skills, personality, and work history gives me what is necessary to succeed as your nanny. I am always willing to learn, I have a positive attitude, and I am an excellent communicator. I am kind, caring, compassionate, and loyal, and I am quick on my feet. I strive to learn every day, if I don’t know the answer to a question, I will find it.
I love being outdoors, I am a great swimmer, and I practice yoga. I have peace within that helps me to stay calm in tense situations. I know that to calm children, you must first be calm. My work with special needs children and adults has helped me to own this skill. I am also both an avid baker and cook. I love to involve the kids when I’m in the kitchen; so much learning can happen there. I have a background in Montessori, with two assistant certificates for ages 0-6, which allows me to take every opportunity to teach the children. I have two assistant Montessori certificates for birth to age 6, which enable me to bring a professional level to my in-home care. I also have my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, specializing in Reading and Special education. I continue to take classes to keep up with my skills. I speak conversational French, which I learned from living in France for two years. I use ASL with all the children I work with and in my daily life. I have over 17 years of experience working with children and their parents. I am CPR and Red Cross first aid certified.
I have worked for professional families last five years. For example, in the family I worked for in France, both parents were working professionals. There I learned when to step back and when to step in. In the last family I worked for here in Illinois, the father worked from home, and the mother often came home for lunch. Again, in this environment, I learned when it was appropriate to step in and take over child care and when to let them have time with their children. Each family is different, and learning the balance of when to step in or when to step away takes time and communication. Clear communication is something I strive for in every job I take, and I am not afraid to ask questions. Good communication is key to a happy and functional household.
I truly love to work with children. I am lucky that caring for children has come naturally to me. I have taken my natural talent with children and grown that skill set to a professional level. I every child I work with I treats with love, kindness, and respect. I lead with an understanding heart and listening ears. My imagination is as big as my heart, and I love to get in the dirt and play alongside the children helping them grow and learn in their own way. It brings me joy to see a child’s eyes light up when they learn something new or master a skill. It is a wonderful feeling knowing you helped a child have a happy, safe, and full childhood.
Throughout my life, I have traveled quite a bit, both solo and in groups. I have been to 30 countries, 20 of the United States, and five continents. I am very comfortable traveling in any style of transportation. My extensive travel has made me feel at home in the city and in the countryside. Along with traveling, I love to read. Reading with and to children is one of the best ways to build their language skills and imagination. I am an insatiable reader; my favorite thing to read is historical fiction. I value hard work, communication, and respect. I treat everyone I work with kindness and respect. I would love the opportunity to be your nanny.
