Hello All! =)

My name is Aurora Ortiz, and the first thing you should know about me is that I am a fan of wonder. I believe that if their is any subject a child should be well versed in, it is the art of finding joy in living. Without this any happy child can grow to be a disconnected and unstable adult.

Growing up I did not have as much as my peers. I am Autistic and identify as Transgender Non- mBinary. Evidently this made my adolescence a challenge. Having to go without can truly impede a child’s development. Negligence towards proper care, communication and understanding makes it all the more difficult to reach the path of a stable adult.

Traditionally my family raises the eldest child as a breadwinner and caretaker. I was taught how to cook by five, and to clean by seven. I began working in a daycare at eight and continued babysitting and mentoring through my time at SUNY MVCC. I am an adult foster, so this role was and still is very important to me. While I have not aimed my career towards professional childcare I still carry the understanding of its importance.

You’re a parent. More than anything in the world you’re sure of that. Parents are to nature as children are to nurture; which simply means you care about who cares for your child(ren). So I understand a lack of credential support may worry you. To that I simply say, decide what you believe is best for your child.
